CORRIDA NA WINDY CITY (RACING IN THE WINDY CITY): Nelson Piquet Jr. and the No. 8 Autotrac/Qualcomm crew will make their way to the Windy City this Friday night as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads into their 18th race of the season. The rookie driver will make his Chicago debut this weekend during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 225.

The vehicle, exterior color and trim packages were hand-picked by the driver himself and include black leather interior with inferno orange accents, 21” machined aluminum wheels, 6-Speed manual transmission, V8 engine, quarter flares and more. Proceeds will be used to further the mission of the Kevin Harvick Foundation through programs such as Kevin’s Krew, Chase Your Dreams Scholarships and the Kevin Harvick Athletic Scholarship Fund. Less than 750 tickets remain for purchase. For more information, go to: http://www.winhappyschevy.com/
CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 8 team will unload chassis No. 051 at Chicagoland Speedway. Piquet Jr. used this chassis in competition at Nashville Superspeedway in April where the rookie driver earned a runner-up finish, his best-career finish thus far in the series. The Brazilian native also competed with this chassis at Texas Motor Speedway in June and most recently at Pocono Raceway in August.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Piquet Jr. and the No. 8 Qualcomm/Autotrac crew made their way to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Truck Series race on September 2. Making his first appearance at the 1.54-mile track, the young driver started the race from the 16th position and overcame on-track contact and pit road issues to capture a 20th-place finish. The Brazilian driver currently sits fourth in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Point Standings, only 32 points behind the leader.
THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: Nelson Piquet Jr.
How are you feeling about your first race at Chicagoland Speedway?
“I’m excited to see what happens at Chicago. I tend to do well at the intermediate style tracks and I hear this track is similar to Kansas, but is a little faster and much rougher. That is a perfect combination for my driving style. The team has worked so hard to get where we are and I’m hoping to get them a win before the end of the season.”
