10/17/11

WALLACE ON BOARD: NASCAR racing veteran Mike Wallace joins Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway behind the wheel of the No. 33 Anderson’s Maple Syrup Chevrolet as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Alabama for the Coca-Cola 250 powered by fred’s. Over the course of his career, Wallace has made a total of 36 starts between NASCAR’s top-three series, at the Alabama track. Four of those starts came in the Truck Series where the St. Louis, Mo., native earned one top-five and one top-10 finish while being credited with leading a total of five laps.

SUPERSPEEDWAY STATISTICS: During the span of five seasons, KHI has fielded nine Truck Series entries at Talladega.  In those nine starts KHI has collected one pole (Ron Hornaday, 2010), one top-five and three top-10 finishes and has been credited with leading 50 laps at the 2.66-mile track.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 33 team will unload chassis No.052 this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. The team raced this particular chassis during the season opener on February 18th at Daytona International Speedway. Hornaday qualified for the event in the third position but was caught up in the “Big One” on lap 76, relegating the team to a 28th-place finish.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Cale Gale returned to the driver’s seat of No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Silverado as the Truck Series made its way to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Smith’s 350 was Gale’s third Truck Series appearance this season and his first Truck Series start at the Nevada track. Starting from the 17th position, the driver maintained a spot in the top 20 for the majority of the race before falling victim to a late-race accident that left him with a 20th-place finish.

THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: Mike Wallace
What are your expectations going into the race at Talladega?
“I am very excited about the chance to race for KHI, especially when I’m going to be racing a truck that I know has an opportunity to win the race. I’ve won at Talladega before in the ARCA Series, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to win again. Hornaday is back in the run for another championship, so I think we’ll be able to work together and help him along as well and hopefully accomplish a sweep for KHI this weekend.”
