Quotes | Kevin Harvick
“Kansas has always been a good track for me in both series. Since the repave, the track has a lot more grip so speeds have been up the last few times we’ve raced there. I expect the track to have lost some grip from when the Cup cars were there in the spring so hopefully we’ll see the groove widen out a little bit more and put on a good race Saturday.
“JR Motorsports has been really strong on the mile-and-a-half tracks this year. It’s a testament to the hard work by everyone involved with the team. They’ve put a ton of effort into their program and we’ve seen the results at these places all year; not just with the 5 team, but also with Chase and Regan’s teams.”
Notes | No. 5 Team
AT KANSAS: Harvick owns one win (2006), five top-five and six top-10 finishes, as well as one pole award, in nine career Nationwide Series starts at Kansas Speedway. This will be Harvick’s first Nationwide Series start at the track since the 2012 repave. In the past two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events at Kansas, Harvick earned back-to-back pole awards and a win (October 2013) to go along with 257 laps led.
1.5-MILE WIN STREAK: Harvick has gone to victory lane in his past three Nationwide Series starts on 1.5-mile tracks – Kentucky Speedway (June 27), Atlanta Motor Speedway (Aug. 30) and Chicagoland Speedway (Sept. 13).
FRONT RUNNER: The No. 5 team will unload chassis No. 892 this weekend at Kansas Speedway. In its two starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway, Harvick led the most laps in each event. Most recently, Harvick raced the chassis to a dominant victory at Atlanta where he led the race’s final 159 laps.
TOP-10 STREAK: With his win at Chicago, Harvick earned his 23rd consecutive top-10 finish in Nationwide Series competition to match his career-best streak previously set in 2006-2007. This season with JR Motorsports, Harvick has finished no lower than seventh in 13 starts.
MORTON BUILDINGS: Kansas marks the second of two races with Morton Buildings featured as primary sponsor of Harvick’s No. 5 Chevrolet. Based in Morton, Ill., Morton Buildings specializes in constructing high-quality, long-lasting structures, from farm shops, equestrian facilities, hobby buildings, garages, churches, municipal buildings, airplane hangars, custom homes, commercial structures and general storage buildings.
