Quotes | Kevin Harvick
“Atlanta is always one of my favorite places to race. I’ve been fortunate to have had a lot of success there throughout my career. The surface is old and abrasive so the tires wear out and you’ll see everyone moving around as the grip goes away. With the limited number of tires teams get in the Nationwide Series, managing your tires, both on the track and in the pits for the end of the race, is going to be really important.”
Notes | No. 5 Team
ATLANTA STATS: Harvick owns two victories, seven top-five and nine top-10 finishes in 12 career Nationwide Series starts at the 1.54-mile quad-oval. In his first six starts at the track, Harvick never led a single lap. Over his past six starts, Harvick has led 508 laps, including the most laps in three of the past five races. The two-time series champion has not finished lower than fourth in his past seven trips to Atlanta.
DEFENDING WINNER: Harvick is the defending winner of the Nationwide Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Last season, Harvick started 20th and made his way to the lead for the first time at lap 59. He went on to lead 132 of the race’s final 137 laps for a dominant victory.
CHEMISTRY WITH COPE: In four Nationwide Series starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway working with crew chief Ernie Cope, Harvick visited victory lane twice while leading 472 of 780 total laps (60.5%). The duo finished fourth (2010) and third (2012) in the other two races.
BAD BOY BUGGIES: Operating under Textron’s E-Z-GO business unit, Bad Boy Buggies continues to revolutionize the all-terrain vehicle industry with new vehicles that change the way people experience the outdoors. Specializing in all-terrain vehicles for both work and recreational use, Bad Boy Buggies has been a Harvick sponsor in each of NASCAR’s top three national touring divisions since 2011.
TOP-10 STREAK: With his seventh-place finish last week at Bristol, Harvick has recorded 20 consecutive top-10 finishes in Nationwide Series competition dating back to 2013. It’s the second-longest top-10 streak of Harvick’s career, as he previously went 23 races in 2006-07.
