Quotes | Kevin Harvick
“I always look forward to racing at Richmond, especially after the race we put together there in the spring. The tire is a little different this time so that will change things up with our setup. We’re bringing the same car; it hasn’t raced since that first race. Richmond is all about getting into a good rhythm and maintaining your forward drive throughout the race. In the spring race, we saw long green-flag runs, and we were able to show our strength the longer the runs went.”
Notes | No. 5 Team
RICHMOND REPEAT? Kevin Harvick will return to Richmond looking to mirror his spring performance at the three-quarter-mile track. It was then (April 25) when Harvick led 202 of the final 203 laps en route to his seventh victory at RIR. Harvick’s effort earned a perfect 150.0 Driver Rating according to NASCAR’s Loop Data.
RICHMOND DOMINANCE: Harvick leads all drivers with seven wins, 17 top-five and 20 top-10 finishes in Nationwide Series competition at Richmond. His April performance at the track propelled him past Mark Martin for the most laps led (1,387).
LAST TIME OUT: Last Saturday night, Harvick and the No. 5 team led 159 of 195 laps to score a victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was Harvick’s third Nationwide Series win of the year and 43rd of his career. It was Harvick’s second consecutive win at Atlanta and third overall at the 1.54-mile facility.
BANNER SEASON AT JRM: Harvick’s victory at Atlanta gave JR Motorsports its eighth win of the year, doubling the company’s previous high-water mark for wins in a single season. With three wins each, both Harvick and Chase Elliott are one win shy of equaling Brad Keselowski’s mark of most wins by a JRM driver in a single season (four in 2009). JRM now has 20 wins since starting in the Nationwide Series in 2006.
WINNING CHASSIS: Ernie Cope and the No. 5 team will bring chassis No. 862 to Richmond. The chassis made its debut at the track in April and has not been raced since.
TOP-10 STREAK: With last week’s win at Atlanta, Harvick has recorded 21 consecutive top-10 finishes in Nationwide Series competition dating back to 2013. It’s the second-longest top-10 streak of Harvick’s career, as he previously went 23 races in 2006-07.
ARMOUR SWEEPSTAKES: Fans can enter to win a customized Bad Boy Buggies Ambush iS UTV by Armour and a bevy of other prizes, including autographed die-cast cars, crew shirts, hats and gift cards. Five finalists will win a private meet and greet with Kevin Harvick. For more information, visit www.ArmourPitStop.com.
