HARVICK HEADS TO THE ATL: Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) co-owner Kevin Harvick will return to the driver’s seat of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Impala for this Labor Day weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Harvick has made nine starts in the series at Atlanta with four top-five and six top-10 finishes. He’s led 188 laps around the 1.54-mile track, 131 laps of those laps were led en route to victory lane in 2009.
KHI AT ATLANTA: KHI has made 10 Nationwide Series starts at the intermediate track, and the organization has collected four top-five and five top-10 finishes. Harvick earned the one win for KHI at the track in 2009.
NOTEWORTHY: Harvick has been on a hot streak in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. With three-consecutive wins, (Pocono Raceway, Michigan International Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway) he adds Michigan and Bristol to the list of tracks where he has gone to victory lane in all three of NASCAR’s national series (Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck). Harvick has also done this at Martinsville Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway and Atlanta.
CHASSIS HISTORY: For the race at Atlanta, the No. 33 Rheem team has prepared chassis No. 071. This chassis has seen competition six times this season with Harvick behind the wheel as well as Paul Menard, Clint Bowyer and Austin Dillon. Chassis No. 071 has a trio of third-place finishes as top results.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Clint Bowyer and the No. 33 Rheem team returned to Bristol Motor Speedway Friday night for the Nationwide Series’ second visit of the season. Bowyer qualified the Rheem Chevrolet in the ninth position for the start of the 250-lap event. The driver led twice for 52 laps and brought home a third-place finish.
HARVICK’S THOUGHTS ON ATLANTA:
“Atlanta is a very fast track. You can race all over it, from the white line on the bottom all the way up to the wall and still be competitive. Atlanta has always been a good track to me. I’ve had success in the Truck Series, Nationwide and Cup Series. With Rheem, who is based in Atlanta, on board the No. 33 this weekend, it’d be great to take the Rheem Chevrolet to victory lane at their home track.”
