BACK TO THE SHORT TRACK WITH HARVICK: Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) co-owner Kevin Harvick will return to the driver’s seat of the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado this weekend as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Martinsville Speedway for the Kroger 200. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver has won in all three of NASCAR’s top-three series at the Virginia short track, but has earned one pole (2010), two wins (2010 and 2009), six top-five and seven top-10 finishes, and has been credited with leading 233 laps in the Truck Series alone.
SHORT-TRACK DOMINATION: Over the past 10 seasons KHI has made a total of 29 starts at Martinsville and collected three poles, three victories, 13 top-five and 18 top-10 finishes. KHI Chevrolets have also led a total of 537 laps at the 0.526-mile track.
CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 team will utilize chassis No. 057 when they head to Martinsville Speedway. This chassis has been used in competition four times thus far this season. Harvick first drove to a fourth-place finish at Martinsville back in April. David Mayhew competed at Iowa Speedway in July earning a third-place finish and Elliott Sadler ran this chassis at Lucas Oil Speedway at Indianapolis in July. Most recently, Harvick earned a second-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in September with this chassis.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: The No. 2 Bad Boy Buggies team entered Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday October 22 ready to capture their third straight victory with four-time Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday behind the wheel. Hornaday pushed KHI teammate Mike Wallace across the finish line to capture the ninth victory for the organization this season with Hornaday coming in second. The runner-up finish moves the veteran driver up five points in the Driver’s Point standings, only 16 markers from the lead, and increases the No. 2 team’s lead in the Owner’s Point standings to 81 points over the second-place team with three races remaining in the season.
HARVICK’S THOUGHTS ON MARTINSVILLE:
What are your thoughts heading into the race at Martinsville Speedway?
“I always have fun when we race at Martinsville. It is one of my favorite tracks to race at, and I’ve found a lot of success there during my career. I got my start short track racing, and Martinsville reminds me of the good old day. KHI trucks have found a lot of success at Martinsville and I hope that trend can continue this weekend.”
