Kevin Harvick really enjoyed his debut at Five Flags Speedway in the ASA Southern Super Series race last weekend and also his first time in the modern Super Late Model platform, even if the results did not look that impressive.

The 2014 Cup Series champion finished 15th and one lap down.

“It’s fast,” Harvick told Short Track Scene after the race on Friday. “You burn the back tires off it when you’re not right. I want to run the races with these guys in it because I really like these racers. I like our CARS Tour and Late Model Stock guys too but I really like Bubba Pollard, Casey Roderick. This is my idea of fun right now. And yeah, we struggled a little bit but I also need a project like this, something to work on and get better at in this stage of my career, and I’m going to get better running against the guys because they are the best at what they do.”

“It was fun. I had a blast,” Harvick said on his show. “Learned a new racetrack, learned a new car, got my butt kicked by Bubba Pollard, Bubba Pollard lapped me, so that made me feel pretty good. We went to Pensacola, Florida to Five Flags Speedway. I think they had almost 6,000 people show up to the race, which is the track where they have the Snowball Derby.”
