BIG NUMBERS: Ken Schrader is no rookie at the track that’s “Too Tough to Tame,” having made 14,488 laps over 55 starts at the egg-shaped oval in NASCAR’s top-three series (Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck). Schrader has earned four pole awards (fall of 1993, spring of 1988 and spring of 1987 in the Sprint Cup Series, fall of 1989 in the Nationwide Series) and has a best finish of second, which he earned in 2001 in the Truck Series.
WINNING BAR-B-Q: Stubb’s Legendary Bar-B-Q returns to the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado this weekend at Darlington (S.C) Raceway. Stubb’s made its Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) and Truck Series debut in July at Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway where Kevin Harvick earned his first-career Truck Series pole and drove the No. 2 to a dominating victory.
FORE!: In addition to competing in the Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series races in Michigan International Raceway, Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) co-owner Kevin Harvick will also get in a few rounds of golf over the next week. The Kevin Harvick Foundation has partnered with the Wyndham Championship PGA Tour for the Kevin Harvick Foundation Pro-Am presented by Technology Concepts & Design at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. on Monday, August 16th. Harvick will be joined by Sprint Cup Series drivers Elliott Sadler and Scott Speed, in addition to other celebrities, PGA Tour professionals and amateurs. Admission to the event is only $15.
THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: Ken Schrader
What are your thoughts on Darlington Raceway?
“Darlington is a track where I have a lot of Cup Series starts, so I’m pretty familiar with its characteristics and challenges. Some people call that ‘character,’ others call it frustrating, but make no mistake about it, Darlington is unique. There will never be another track like it because I believe they broke the mold, and a lot of drivers breathed a sigh of relief.”
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Ken Schrader continued his streak of top-10 finishes, earning his fourth straight top 10 in KHI equipment. After a solid fourth-place qualifying run, Schrader battled the handling of his truck throughout the night, pulling off a 10th-place finish in the No. 2 Moore’s Marinade Chevrolet Silverado.
CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 team will utilize chassis No. 042 this weekend at Darlington Raceway. Chassis No. 42 has visited victory lane twice in 2010. Kevin Harvick drove the chassis to the win at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March and Elliott Sadler wheeled it to his career-first Truck Series victory at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway in July.
