Qualifying Results
· Kevin Harvick and the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet team will start Saturday night’s Samsung Mobile 500 from the 15th position after posting a lap time of 28.624 seconds and a speed of 188.653 mph in Friday evening’s qualifying session at Texas Motor Speedway.
· Teams had a two-hour first practice on Thursday. In that session Harvick and the No. 29 Budweiser team spent two-thirds of the time focusing on race trip before switching over to qualifying trim. Harvick made two mock-qualifying runs at the end of the session and posted a lap time of 28.540 seconds and a speed of 189.208 mph as he posted the third-fastest lap of the session. On Friday afternoon teams had a 90-minute final practiced to fine tune on their setups. The No. Budweiser team focused solely on race trim in that session and Harvick posted 45 laps as they worked on the car’s balance. He ended up sixth-fastest on the speed chart with a lap time of 29.355 seconds and a speed of 183.955 mph.
· Martin Truex Jr. scored the pole award for Saturday’s race with a lap time of 28.366 and a speed of 190.369 mph. Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Mark Martin and Kasey Kahne complete the top-five starting positions.
