Qualifying Results
- Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet SS team will start Saturday night’s Bank of America 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway from the seventh starting position.
- Qualifying at the 1.5-mile track was broken up into three segments. In the first round, Harvick posted the second-fastest lap. He did the same in the second round. In the final qualifying session, Harvick aborted his first attempt and brought the car back to pit road for the team too cool it down. He completed his second run of the final round and his lap clocked in at 27.574 seconds and a speed of 195.837 mph, placing him seventh on the starting grid for Saturday’s race.
- Kyle Busch scored the pole award with a fast lap time of 27.357 seconds and a speed of 197.390 mph. Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman complete the top-five starting positions.
- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams had a 90-minute practice session prior to qualifying on Thursday. The No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet team made four mock-qualifying runs and Harvick posted a fast lap time of 27.524 seconds and a speed of 196.192 mph on their final run, which put him first on the leaderboard.
- On Friday, teams are scheduled to have two additional practice sessions to prepare for Saturday’s race. ESPN 2 will air live coverage at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET.
Harvick on qualifying at Charlotte Motor Speedway:
“The No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet was just too tight on the last couple of runs and we didn’t get a very good lap there at the end.”
The following is the starting position of the other SHR teams in Saturday's race:
- Tony Stewart and the No. 14 Bass Pro Shops/Mobil 1 Chevrolet team will start fourth.
- Kurt Busch and the No. 41 State Water Heaters Chevrolet team will start 11th.
- Danica Patrick and the No. 10 GoDaddy Breast Cancer Awareness Chevrolet team will start 14th.
