Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway
Qualifying Results
- Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 Jimmy John’s Chevrolet SS team will start Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 from the sixth position after posting a lap time of 35.047 seconds and a speed of 205.438 mph in Friday’s qualifying session at Michigan International Speedway (MIS).
- Qualifying at MIS was comprised of three rounds, as the track is a two-mile oval. In the first round, Harvick posted the ninth-fastest time to advance to the next session. He ran the second-fastest time in the second round to advance to the final group. In the last round, Harvick’s lap time put him sixth on the grid for Sunday’s race.
- Jeff Gordon scored the pole award for Sunday’s race with a lap time of 34.857 seconds and a speed of 206.558 mph. Joey Logano, Carl Edwards, Brian Vickers and Brad Keselowski complete the top-five starting positions.
- On Friday, teams had an 80-minute practice session to prepare for qualifying. The No. 4 team made several runs in race trim before swapping over to make mock-qualifying runs. Harvick completed a total of 23 laps during the session and ended up 15th on the speed chart.
- Teams have two additional practices on Saturday morning to prepare for the race. ESPN2 will have live coverage of both sessions at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. ET.
The following is the starting position of the other SHR teams in Sunday's race:
Danica Patrick and the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet team will start 14th.
Kurt Busch and the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet team will start 16th.
Jeff Burton and the No. 14 Mobile 1/Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet team will start 27th.
