Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Qualifying Results
• Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 Jimmy John’s Chevrolet SS team will start the Kobalt 400 on Sunday from the 16th position after posting a lap time of 28.184 seconds and a speed of 191.598 mph in round two of NASCAR’s new multi-round qualifying format on Friday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
• Harvick finished 23rd in the first round of qualifying, which allowed him to advance to round two. Harvick was 16th-fastest in the second round and therefore did not advance to the final round of qualifying to determine the starting order of the top-12 cars.
• Joey Logano scored the pole award for Sunday’s race with a fast lap time of 27.939 seconds and a speed of 193.278 mph. Brad Keselowski, Clint Bowyer, Austin Dillon and Jimmie Johnson complete the top-five starting positions for the race.
• Harvick’s team used Friday’s 90-minute practice session to improve the car’s handling and prepare for qualifying. He completed a total of eight laps and ended up 20th on the speed chart.
• NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams are scheduled for two additional practice sessions on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. PST/11:30 a.m. EST and 11:30 PST/2:30 p.m. EST. FOX Sports 2 will provide live coverage of both.
The following is the starting position of the other SHR teams in the Kobalt 400:
• Danica Patrick and the No. 10 Aspen Dental Chevrolet team will start 22nd.
• Kurt Busch and the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet team will start 23rd.
• Tony Stewart and the No. 14 Mobile 1/Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet team will start 24th.
