Format involved two rounds of knockout qualifying:
- Round 1: 25 minutes, top-12 advance to Round 2. (Sets positions 13-38.)
- Round 2: 10 minutes, top-12 battle for the pole. (Sets positions 1-12.)
Notes:
- Kyle Larson won his fourth career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series pole, his first at Sonoma and his third of the season.
- Saturday’s sixth-place qualifying run resulted in Patrick’s best starting spot of the season.
