• Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet SS team will start Sunday’s Quicken Loans 400 from the pole position after posting a fast lap time of 35.198 seconds and a speed of 204.557 mph in Friday’s qualifying session at Michigan International Speedway.

• Harvick posted the fastest lap during each of the three rounds of qualifying en route to earning the ninth pole award of his Sprint Cup Series career. His qualifying run set a new track record and it was the ninth-fastest pole-winning lap in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series history.

• Teams had an 80-minute practice session on Friday morning to prepare for qualifying. The No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet team started out in race trim and made two runs before switching over to qualifying trim. Harvick made two mock-qualifying runs and ended up fourth on the speed chart.

• On Saturday, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams will have two additional practices at 9:30 a.m. ET and 12:30 p.m. ET to prepare for Sunday’s race. FOX Sports 2 will provide live coverage of both sessions.

Harvick on scoring the pole award at Michigan International Speedway:

“I think that is just a credit to our No. 4 Budweiser Stewart-Haas race team for putting fast race cars on the track. When you put it together with the Hendrick Motorsports engine package it creates a lot of speed and it makes coming to these place a lot of fun. I’m really excited to start on the pole and get that first pit box and hopefully we can put the whole day together on Sunday.”

The following is the starting position of the other SHR teams in Sunday's race:

• Kurt Busch and the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet team will start eighth.

• Tony Stewart and the No. 14 Bass Pro Shops/Mobile 1 Chevrolet team will start 26th.

• Danica Patrick and the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet team will start 27th.
