Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville Speedway
Qualifying Results
- Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 Outback Steakhouse Chevrolet SS team will start Sunday’s Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 from the 33rd position after Friday’s qualifying session at Martinsville Speedway.
- Qualifying at Martinsville Speedway was split into two sessions. The first round was 30 minutes in length. Harvick completed two qualifying runs and made contact with the wall on both attempts. The team’s fastest lap of the session clocked in at 19.355 seconds and a speed of 97.835 mph, which left Harvick 33rd and he didn’t advance to the second round.
- Jamie McMurray scored the pole award for Sunday’s race with a lap time of 18.954 seconds and a speed of 99.905 mph. Joey Logano, Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin complete the top-five starting positions.
- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams had an 80-minute practice on Friday. The No. 4 team started the session in race trim, then switched over and made three mock-qualifying runs. Harvick’s fastest lap of the session put him 15th on the leaderboard.
- Teams have two additional practices on Saturday to prepare for Sunday’s race. FOX Sports 1 will have live coverage at 9 a.m. and noon ET.
Harvick on qualifying at Martinsville Speedway:
“We just missed it today. We were way too loose. We struggled in practice and just missed it in qualifying. We have to get better tomorrow and be ready to go on Sunday.”
The following is the starting position of the other SHR teams in Sunday's race:
- Tony Stewart and the No. 14 Bass Pro Shops/Mobil 1 Chevrolet team will start fourth.
- Kurt Busch and the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet team will start 10th.
- Danica Patrick and the No. 10 GoDaddy Breast Cancer Awareness Chevrolet team will start 30th.
