Chicagoland Speedway … Kevin Harvick will pilot Chassis No. 254 from the
Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. This is a new
Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet Impala SS.

Reese’s paint scheme last weekend during the Coke Zero 400 Powered by
Coca-Cola at Daytona, the No. 29 Chevy will return to its traditional bright
yellow and red Shell-Pennzoil colors this weekend for the LifeLock.com 400 at
Chicagoland Speedway.
Points Check … Harvick fell to 13th in the
NSCS point standings with his 12th-place finish last weekend at Daytona
International Speedway. The 32-year-old driver trails 12th-place Tony Stewart
by two points, 10 points behind Greg Biffle in 11th, 16 markers behind RCR
teammate Clint Bowyer in 10th, 23 points shy of Matt Kenseth in ninth and 176

Bristol, Bowyer – Richmond), 10 top-five and 24 top-10 finishes. The Welcome,
N.C., based race team has completed 16,400 laps in 2008 with four different
drivers including Bowyer, Jeff Burton, Harvick and Ken Schrader. Meanwhile,
RCR teams have logged 22,374.4 miles of competition this season and been on
top of the leaderboard for 300 laps.
Harvick in the Loop at Chicago …
Former Winner, Chicago Stats … In seven NSCS
races at Chicagoland Speedway, Harvick has earned four top-five and five
top-10 finishes, including victories in the first two races. The 11-time
Sprint Cup Series winner has logged a 13.3 starting average coupled with an
impressive eighth-place finishing average. Meanwhile, Harvick has completed
all but one lap of competition dating to his rookie season and led five times
for 282 laps.
2008 in Review … Over the season’s first 18
races, Harvick has earned two top-five and five top-10 finishes. He currently
holds a 17.3 starting average coupled with a 15.6 finishing average and has
completed 5,247 of 5,425 total laps (96.7 percent).
Since We’re Talking Chicago Stats … Harvick is
ranked second in NASCAR’s Average Running Position category (9.0) at Chicago
and is currently the series best Closer – a statistic derived from the number
of positions improved over the last 10 percent of each race. The 2006 NASCAR
Nationwide Series champion is also second best in the total number of laps
running in the top 15 (764). He is second in the Driver Rating category
(114.6). The Driver Rating is a formula that combines the following
categories: wins, finishes, top-15 finishes, average running position while
on the lead lap, average speed under green, fastest lap, most laps led and
lead-lap finishes. The maximum points a driver can earn in each race is 150
points. The Driver Rating number is used pre-race as a prediction tool and
post-race as a performance evaluator. (Note: All driver stats are from
Chicagoland. NASCAR’s scoring loops began collecting date for statistical
purposes in 2005).
Still Running Strong … Harvick has not
recorded a DNF (did not finish) in 62 consecutive races, which is the modern
era record (1972-present). Bowyer currently has the second-longest active
streak of 55 consecutive races without a DNF.
RCR at Chicago … Richard Childress is tied
with Joe Gibbs for most car owner victories at Chicagoland with two. Harvick
scored back-to-back wins for RCR in the 2001-2002 LifeLock.com 400. In 21
starts at the 1.5-mile suburban Chicago tri-oval, Childress also boasts five
top-five and 11 top-10 finishes with eight different drivers including Jeff
Green, Harvick, Mike Skinner, Robby Gordon, Steve Park, Dave Blaney, Burton
and Bowyer.

KEVIN HARVICK QUOTES:
What is the fastest way around Chicago?
“The fastest way around Chicago is to run the
white line the entire race. However, you never know what the tires and all
the other circumstances are going to be when we go back. The track is still
aging and it loses grip every time we go back. Over the past couple of years,
we have been able to run up the race track a little bit. But I think the
person who can run the white line the entire race will win.”
What’s unique about Chicagoland Speedway?
“Probably that you go through the corners pretty
much wide open. You let off sooner than you do at most places, and you drive
it all the way through the corners under power. That’s not extremely
different from other tracks but there is a lot more throttle there than at
most places. You get back in it (the gas) a lot quicker than you do at most
places.”
Chicagoland Speedway and Kansas Speedway look
alike but are they?
“They really are different. The race tracks, from
the outside looking at them, look exactly the same. But, every track has its
own unique characteristics and these two tracks have their own. From what I
remember, there are now multiple grooves at Chicagoland so you can run a
little bit higher. You don’t have to run right on the bottom of the track.
But, in qualifying, the bottom is definitely the way to go.”
